More about me
Growing up in Whitewater Wisconsin, I was fortunate enough to have musical opportunities surrounding me thanks to the college, UWW, which I now attend as an undergrad. I always loved the Summer camps and opportunities to surround myself with musicians that shared a similar passion for music. Little did I know, those camps would be my foundation for becoming the musician I am today. While I could go on for days and give every nitty gritty detail about how I’ve gotten where I am, that would be too may words one heck of a boring bio with my small town background and current journey in education. Instead, I’m going to be a bit of a nerd and tell you my “why”.
Music has been a rock for me growing up I struggled a lot with navigating and expressing feelings. I love my family, but they were never ones to be sentimental and sappy. I however, had many emotions and feelings and struggled to find a way to share those without fear of being judged. That’s where the saxophone came into play. It’s been my outlet to tell a story, share my feelings and truly have people understand me. My saving grace in high school was any opportunity to practice. Through my time with the horn I have learned how to be authentic and how to be vulnerable. Music makes people feel, it fuels connection. I’ve always had creative visions and bold goals. With the arts, I am able to do more than feel and bring my ideas to life. If you’re ever in need of someone who values their work with their whole heart, I’m your gal!
Working under Dr. Sintchak has not only allowed me to connect with some of the world’s greatest saxophone players, but push myself as a person. I have always had a strong passion for the world of music and all of the stories and meanings that go with it.
Through my time in music I have had amazing opportunities such as opening for the Count Basie Orchestra and WDR Big Band with the UWW Jazz Ensemble I, and closing the World Projects Wind Band Festival at Carnegie Hall with the UWW Symphonic Wind Ensemble. I am currently working on a commissioning project for saxophone with multimedia and cannot wait to see where the wind takes me.
